Hair

I am coming up on a 20 pound loss and was thinking I should reward myself in some way for this first huge accomplishment I am about to make! I'm thinking it should be something that would make me feel good about myself since losing 20lbs sure is making me feel pretty good! I have been thinking it's time for something new. I need a new hair style - badly! I did have my hair cut like a month before Parker was born where the lady cut off 7 inches but since my hair was so long, it's already back there again. UGH!
I would love to walk in and say, "Do whatever you want!" but I know that will more than likely result in something I don't like. I wish I had the open mind to be like the people that can say, "Oh, it's just hair. It will grow back." but that's not me. It never has been me. It never will be me.
So, here's where I'm asking for your help, friends! I have found a couple of pictures of styles I like but am hoping to get some input as well as possibly some more ideas.
  • For color: I don't want to completely change my hair color since I really do love it, but I want to add to it.
  • For style: My cheeks are full (no matter how small I am) so cute little bobs don't work on me. Pretty much the shortest I have ever gone and know looks good is about my collarbone. My hair is naturally coarse, thick and wavy - to give you an idea of the texture.

If you can give me some input on these pictures and maybe some links to other ones, I would definitely appreciate it!

I loved it when you got it cut, I believe it was to your colar bone.. and it was layered.. it was beautiful and looked so nice on you. Highlights would also look wonderful... Nothing to dramatic.. with the highlights.. but enough to be noticable...

I really like the pictures with the bangs to the side and I love highlights in red-heads, so all the pictures look good to me! (but I think my favorite of them all is the first one for the hair cut)

all of those pictures are cute. I think you'd look better with the softer highlights rather than the more contrasty-dark ones.

First off, you sort of blew off the 20 pound weight loss, HELLO. You should be shouting it from the rooftops. You are doing awesome.

Don't mess with the hair color, you know you love it as is. Maybe try a shine booster or something along that lines. Then get a fabulous cut. (Since I haven't seen you in person, I'm not good at calling out hairstyles).

I currently LOVE my bangs (most days).

I echo the other comments--love side-swooped bangs with layers and the more subtle highlights if you are going to go that route!

You know, the pictures that you post all have pretty much the same style. I think it's clear what style you want. My suggestion is to splurge on a great stylist and a great salon. Bring this photos in so that the stylist knows what you are thinking, and then ask him/her to adapt it as needed to fit your hair type and face. I find that they really good stylists are able to adapt a style to a face and hair type. As for color, I would say just enrich the gorgeous color you already have. Can they add low lights? I agree with Marketing Mama that softer highlights/lowlights would work best on you.c Lastly, ask the stylist for product suggestions. You may one to buy a product they suggest. I am not a fan of a ton of hair products in my own hair, but I will use one (a lighter one) based on the suggestions of a trusted stylist.

Congrats on the 20 pounds. Are you also splurging on some new clothes?!
