I have a job!

I am so excited to finally announce: I have a job that I am thrilled about!!! I can't talk about them too much but can give you all a quick rundown.
I have been lucky enough to be connected with a family that needed care for their two boys: ages 3 and 15 months. The whole family is sweet - just sweet. I will be caring for them in my home M, W, F and in their home T & Th. This situation is so nice. I get to spend all day with my kids and make money caring for other people's as well! I did 2 part-time days this week. I'm doing 2 part-time days next week. We have the following week off since they will be out of town and I start full-time days August 25. YAY!
I had a childcare position before (from August - November last year) that didn't work out. Long story short: The mom gave me some lame excuse telling me she didn't know if I could handle 3 kids (her 2, my 1) at once. It came out of nowhere and I didn't know what to think about it. A while later, she told me she was insecure in her own being as a mother and the previous reason for letting me go was what she could come up with. Her son told me he loved me and that he always wanted me there. He also told his mom and dad that he wanted Graycen and I to live there and I was a "great mommy." The mom had a hard time with that and as a result, she actually quit her job to stay home with her kids.
I had a really hard time with this because I felt it was unfair. I would think that because her son cared for me so much that would be a great thing. I was doing something right. Not until i really thought about it, did I realize I didn't know how I would feel if I were in the same position. I discovered it would probably be something really hard to deal with. Especially if, financially, I didn't need to work (which the mom didn't)
If you're wondering, I didn't post this on here before because I didn't want to have any bad blood between the mom and I.
After that I slid into my spot at Best Buy since I was already minimal part-time there for the season. I stayed until Parker was born. I happened to get lucky and get this new position while I was on maternity leave from Best Buy.

That is awesome news! That's too bad about the first mom and a lame excuse. If she would have just told you she wanted to stay home, that would have been more understandable. I'd love to stay home at least half time.

Great news about the new job. Sorry to hear why the other one didn't work out - but if you think about it from a bigger perspective - think the universe - you helped her realize that it was more important to her to be home with her kids. That's a gift, really. And although it inconvenienced you for awhile, it really provided that child a better, stronger connection with his Mom. I think it's a good thing...
