However, I don't project that same attitude towards someone else because I don't know their intentions, their situation, etc.

Whether you want to believe it or not, silence is a message and just because it's not *your* message doesn't make it the wrong message for someone else.Eric, Cindy and Aidanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14103189398651562494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790768843014508625.post-32115936581197643572008-11-04T11:45:00.000-06:002008-11-04T11:45:00.000-06:00I look at it as more of my responsibility to vote,...I look at it as more of my responsibility to vote, not just a right...it's going to be an exciting night!Katie Osbornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03833482392890227034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790768843014508625.post-18590451958046277812008-11-04T10:59:00.000-06:002008-11-04T10:59:00.000-06:00Kristine -- As an educated voter, I agree with abs...Kristine -- As an educated voter, I agree with absolutely everything you say. It wasn't until someone pointed out that view to me that it made me start to think.

This election has made people excited. It's made people want to talk about it (even in the military, when the topic is generally taboo). It's an exciting day and I can. not. wait. to find out the results.

I'd totally say, "Go _______," but, I'm wearing a uniform, so I can't. But, I hope to wake up excited vs disappointed tomorrow!Eric, Cindy and Aidanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14103189398651562494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790768843014508625.post-75590352722354421342008-11-04T10:49:00.000-06:002008-11-04T10:49:00.000-06:00Cindy - I totally agree with you in that regard. I guess when I was posting this I wasn't thinking about the people who choose not to vote because there isn't an appropriate person for them.
There are too many people that just don't vote, they don't look into things and don't care about them, but when it comes time to complain - they are all over it. I know firsthand, since I used to be one of those people. I appreciate your commment about this. It's not often I get into anything remotely political but this time around.... it's another story!kristinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11822425289823577361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790768843014508625.post-50878600485895512082008-11-04T10:39:00.000-06:002008-11-04T10:39:00.000-06:00I'm so excited about the election this year and am...I'm so excited about the election this year and am glad I voted a month ago (I've never actually voted in person -- courtesy of my homes away from home in the Air Force.)

I do have to say, however, that as a member of the military, I defend the right for Americans to express themselves. Some choose to express themselves by not voting. While I personally would not do this, I think it is the right of every American citizen to express themselves in a way in which they are comfortable. The folks who choose not to vote are making their voices heard, even though it might not be in a way I agree with.

This is the first year I've felt this way or thought about it enough to feel this way, but if you truly, truly don't like any of the candidates, you do have a right to express that by abstaining.

I think those that this applies to are few and far between, however. If people don't vote because they're lazy, then they should definitely shut the hell up.

Off my soapbox.Eric, Cindy and Aidanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14103189398651562494noreply@blogger.com
