What I Learned This Week

Sherri (my sister-in-law) has started a new weekly topic on her blog called "What I Learned This Week" I decided it seems like something that might be fun to participate in and I have decided to join her. I am seeing from my list this week that some things might be totally random and off the wall things and some might be parenting related, spouse related...etc. If you decide to join in, you can let her know via her blog and post or myself and we can link up!

**A daddy long legs is NOT a spider. David found this out while we were waiting in the doctor office today for Parker's appointment. He was reading Highlights Magazine (remember the seek and finds in that magazine?!) I thought that was really interesting. Had to look it up when we got home and sure enough, they're not spiders. They only have 2 legs, not 8 and their bodies are one part, not 2. ISH ISH ISH!

**I have been reading a lot about saving money and where to be frugal. I am finding that by meal planning, I can save a lot of money. Last night I researched a ton of foods and found lots of new meals to try and if they are successful, they will go into rotation. I think I will post every time we try a new recipe! (well, if it is a success) I planned our meals for the next 2 weeks and made my grocery list accordingly - of course, checking the fliers to see where the good deals were. I only bought 6 things not on my list and 2 of those were things I needed to put on there but just forgot. The other 4 were things for David (treats, if you will) With all of that, I actually spent $31.43 less than what I had budgeted! WAHOO!!!

**Pancakes can be made ahead, frozen and reheated via the toaster or microwave when ready to eat them. I made up a batch of blueberry pancakes and a batch of chocolate chip pancakes for freezing. I am hoping this helps me manage the mornings a little better until we get on a good and solid schedule in this household!

**If I change Parker halfway through his bottle during the night, I can get him to finish it without falling asleep!

Sounds like you got things under control. Making up a menu and making your grocery list from the menu is what I did for a long time because we were on a tight budget. It is amazing how you can pretty much save money doing that. Also, using a calculater while shopping helps you see where you are, and when you can and can't be a little frugal... proud of you, keep up the wonderful work.

Good for you! Being frugal with food is one of the hardest things. Sounds like you've got a great start!

i have to buy Kris "treats" too, otherwise he gets junk-food hungry and goes to the gas station, which is a lot more expensive. :)
